Picture provided by Martha Frommelt, Boynton Middle School Concert, January 2020The Fine Arts Booster Group (FABG), an affiliate of IPEI, has awarded $1,625.56 in three grants to Ithaca City School District (ICSD) programs that will reach 300 students. Grant funds are made possible through FABG performance booklet ad sales and individual donations. The boosters produce performance booklet programs for middle and high school concerts and plays, totaling over 35 events each year.
Fine Arts Booster Group grants were awarded for district-wide and special projects. Vanessa Wagner, FABG Treasurer, noted, "The Fine Arts Booster Group helps leverage and expand community connections in partnership with the Ithaca City School District."
Spring 2020 Mini Grants awarded:
Reorganization and Refresh of the DeWitt Costume Room, DeWitt Middle School
Clean out, organize and refresh the overstuffed and difficult to navigate DeWitt costume room to make it easier to access and organize costumes in the future.
Make Way for Play: Animals and Habitats, Caroline Elementary School
Working with guest artist Ann Reichlin to bring Kindergarten research to life through designing, creating and playing with animal sculptures and habitats.
Electroacoustic Music in Orchestra, DeWitt Middle School
Adding technology and electronic acoustic music in the performance class to enhance the curriculum offering new mediums for students and attracting more tech savvy students into the music program.
