April 16th Deadline for Filing
There are many avenues that one could take to serve the community in which he or she lives, but none so demanding and yet fulfilling as serving on the board of education.
Individuals are motivated to run for seats on local school boards for myriad reasons, many of which reflect their desire to make a positive impact on the lives of the community’s young people.
They lend guidance and support for those entrusted with the responsibility of developing and implementing plans for continuous improvement in the school program. They provide essential insight into the community’s culture. They deal with issues head-on in an effort to ensure the best educational environment possible, especially during tough fiscal times.
On May 15th there will be two school board seats up for voter consideration. Individuals interested in running for the board can secure a petition from Ms. Jodie Rusaw, District Clerk, by contacting her via e-mail (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) or phone (533-4294, extension 4000). She will forward you a petition which must be signed by at least twenty-five qualified voters of the school district. Completed petitions must be filed with the District Clerk no later than 5pm on Monday, April 16, 2007. All candidates for the board of education will be featured in the May 2007 District Newsletter.

There is no greater gift that we can give our children than to prepare them for success through a quality educational opportunity. School board service contributes significantly to ensuring that opportunity.
