This year the Lansing Library received gifts when Emma Dhimitri had a birthday party. When Emma and her mother Sandy Dhimitri were planning the birthday party they suggested that the guests bring a gift book for the Lansing Library. This they did.
The picture shows Emma giving her basket of books to Lyle Wadell at the library. Each book will have a book plate recognizing these wonderful gifts. What a great birthday celebration.
There was also a surprise for Emma at the library on this day. A little more than a year ago Emma wasn’t interested in reading. Mr. Lyle challenged her saying, “if you didn’t know how to read and there was a sign on the library wall saying you could get an ice cream cone if you read this”, you wouldn’t get any ice cream.
Today there was a sign, Emma read it and got a gift card for Purity ice cream. Emma reads a lot now. She just completed 38 books for the 2005 Summer Reading Program.
