ImageUnited Way of Tompkins County's Stephen E. Garner Day of Caring was a great success!  The community generously donated nearly 3 tons of food and personal care items for sixteen, local food pantries and organizations.  A record-number of personal care items were donated this year.  Wegmans donated 450 reusable tote bags that were given to the food pantries for their consumers to use throughout the year.

Campaign Co-Chairs are Jean McPheeters, President of the Tompkins County Chamber of Commerce and Dr. Rob Mackenzie, President & CEO of Cayuga Medical Center. Both McPheeters and Mackenzie have been extremely supportive of the work of United Way and its forty-three member organizations, in addition to the two targeted areas of care; Hunger & Food Security and the Urgent Rx Prescription Program.

Both are members of United Way's Board of Directors, chaired by Roger Sibley, Executive Director of the Franziska Racker Centers.  This year's two honorary Campaign Co-Chairs are Kathy Schlather, Executive Director of the Human Services Coalition and Dale Schumacher, Executive Director of The Learning Web.  Both of these organizations are United Way members.
