Crafts were available for the younger patrons, many of whom came dressed in their own costumes. If you were brave enough to go upstairs, you might have been startled by the snakes, spooky music, or the baby snatcher. A cave man was there too, but not the nice one you see on the TV commercials. It's all good fun and a great opportunity for kids to try out their new costumes before the school parade and Halloween Trick-or-Treating.

Refreshments provided by the parents were also a big hit. The Witch’s Brew tasted great and the bloody fingers, spooky apple teeth treats, and chocolate mice were very interesting. Cookies, donuts, cider, popcorn, cake and apples were also enjoyed.
It takes a lot of hard work for the boys and adults to set up the Haunted House. Then they perform for three hours and have to take everything down and store it away. They clean the Community Center and set up tables for the Lion’s pancake breakfast the next morning. If you attended the Haunted House and the pancake breakfast Sunday morning, you saw some of the same young men up bright and early helping the Lansing Lions by waiting on tables. The Lansing Lions sponsor the troop and the boys enjoy helping.
In the end, the Haunted House is a very rewarding activity for everyone involved. Many positive comments about the Haunted House were offered by those who attended. Next year should be even better. The scouts are already planning what they would like to do, so if you dare, plan on coming next year to support our boy scouts.
