The Town Hall was packed Wednesday with town employees and guests for the annual holiday lunch. Outgoing Supervisor Steve Farkas was presented with a plaque in appreciation for his years in service as a Town Councilman and Supervisor. Later that day he presided over his last regular Town Board meeting.

"I appreciated the eight years as Supervisor," Farkas said. "It was an enlightening thing, it was encouraging. We had ups, we had downs. In the end the real backbone of Lansing is that you can agree to disagree sometimes and still get the job done. I hope that continues to happen. I thank you all."

Farkas urged more people to get involved in Town government, if only to attend board meetings and ask questions. "We're messing with your money," he said. "It's a thing you need to be aware of and put your two cents in, because when you pay the Town of Lansing taxes every year you need to keep aware of how we are spending it."
