ImageOn Friday, April 24th, progressive reggae band John Brown's Body performs at Castaways.  JBB's last studio album Amplify, debuted at number one on Billboard's Reggae Chart, and made iTunes "Best of 2008" list.  On March 17th, JBB returns with Re-Amplify, a new release featuring six remixes of songs from Amplify, along with a new, previously unreleased track.

The producers involved with Re-Amplify are a diverse group of top notch remixers, including Disashi Lumumba-Kasongo (guitarist from Gym Class Heroes), Tommie Sunshine (American rave legend and remixer of songs by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Killers, Panic! At The Disco, Good Charlotte), GoldieLocks (up-and-coming artist/producer from the UK, recently nominated for DJ Mag Best British Breakthrough Producer), Dubmatix (one of Canada's best known reggae producers, recently nominated for a Juno), Wrongtom (London DJ who has remixed Hard-Fi, Lily Allen, and Roots Manuva), and Blue King Brown (Australian reggae/afro-beat masters, of whom Carlos Santana said, "...my favorite band right now").

John Brown's Body has gone through significant changes since the release of 2005's Pressure Points.  Lead singer Elliot Martin underwent throat surgery, several band members departed and most significantly, the band suffered the loss of bassist Scott Palmer. Palmer lost his battle with cancer in 2006, only six months after his diagnosis.  Emerging from these changes, the band's current line-up is a focused, more experimental outfit than ever before, challenging the usual notions of contemporary reggae.
