1600 chicken halves were the main attraction at the 48th annual Lansing Lions Club Chicken Barbecue. While rain and thunder storms had threatened the event toward the beginning of the week, by Saturday the forecast had changed to 'Partly Sunny.' Down on the ground the barbecue was entirely sunny as visitors joined the long line for chicken dinners, visited the flea market, the Lansing Historical Association, and Habitat For Humanity. |
The 4th of July Barbecue is only one of the many fund raising events the Lions conduct. The money goes to a huge list of projects, including scholarships for graduating Lansing seniors, a speech and hearing clinic, sponsorship of Lansing's Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts, an eyeglasses program, and many other causes.
