The locally supported nonprofit now offers access to cancer screenings, supports and guidance through treatment, and wellness programs for survivors. Its constellation of services include information and strategies for coping and informed decision-making; connections to other cancer survivors; useful items for day to day needs and connections to community resources that will address barriers to successfully completing treatment.
CRCFL is the only non-profit organization in the area committed to ensuring that local residents who find themselves facing a cancer diagnosis and treatment have a safety net that will help them through this difficult time. Over the years the organization has served over 6,000 people.
"We feel honored to be a part of this organization's growth and its commitment to the local community"," said Shawn Galbreath, executive director and herself a cancer survivor, "The board of directors, staff and I have made personal commitment both to creating awareness in our community about the availability our support and services as well as to ensure that there is funding necessary to maintain their continued availability for our neighbors, coworkers, friends and family members."
The Cancer Resource Center is dedicated to creating and maintaining a community of cancer survivors to provide education and information, supports and services to the newly diagnosed and cancer survivors. Founded in 1994 and based locally the organization serves all communities in Tompkins County involving hundreds of volunteers from across the county.
