ImageThe PING PONG for HAITI tournament and benefit held Saturday, March 6 at Trumansburg High School raised $2,500 for Partners in Health, ACDI/VOCA and The Lambi Fund of Haiti, three organizations providing support to Haiti after the devastating earthquake. The event was sponsored by Westhill Graphics , Inc., an Ithaca-based graphic design and marketing firm.

More than 80 players registered for the event. The youth division was won by Ethan Skutt of Ithaca, age 12. Michael Belle, also age 12 of Ithaca, was the second place finisher in the youth division. The adult division was won by Cornell Civil & Environmental Engineering grad student Jorge Escobar, a Colombia native. He went undefeated in the double-elimination tournament. Harry Hawk of Lansing came in second, losing only to Escobar in the semi-finals and championship round.

The event also featured Haitian art and education as well as raffles, a bake sale, and food concessions. Cornell Civil & Environmental Engineering professor Ken Hover also presented photos and remarks from his recent trip to Haiti at the event.
