ImageUnited Way of Tompkins County has exceeded its 2009-10 Community Campaign Goal of $2,075,000, raising $2,079,149 and still counting.

“The 31 Days to $100K Campaign was successful and definitely helped us to reach the goal," stated Campaign Co-Chairs Tom LiVigne, Cornell University, and Community Leader Andy Sciarabba. "As a result thousands of individuals and families will receive much-needed services throughout the year. We would like to give a special thank you to all the dedicated volunteers,  generous donors, the media, and the community for their outstanding support. Our community has responded favorably to the appeal to fund health and human service programs.”

The Campaign began last summer with the Pacesetter Campaign and the kick off for the community-at-large was in September at the annual Stephen E. Garner Day of Caring Food & Personal Care Items Drive. LiVigne added, “We knew this was going to be a difficult year due to the economy, but on the other hand, we also knew that the unmet needs would increase and they did.”

Tax-deductible donations help to support health and human service programs for newborns to retirees in addition to the two targeted impact areas of care: Hunger & Food Security and the Urgent Rx Prescription Program. All gifts help to advance the common good for all.

A Campaign Celebration & Volunteer Recognition Event is being planned for the end of April. More information will be forthcoming regarding this celebration.
