carnival17_120Details are starting to filter in since last week's announcement that there will be a Lansing Fire Department Carnival this year.  The fate of this year's carnival was in question because construction at Central Station made the field behind the fire station unavailable this year.  In the eleventh hour department members solidified a plan to hold the carnival at the Community Recreation Center (the RINK) May 26, 27, and 28.

At the time of this writing, only two traditional features of the carnival will be missing: food cooked by volunteer emergency responders, and the annual parade.  Department officials say that it is too late to organize a parade, and in any event the Route 34 location is not ideal for a parade.  Burgers and clams will be replaced by other food vendors.

Big news this week is that there will be fireworks, weather permitting, after dark on Saturday.  A DJ is also scheduled for Friday from 7pm to 10pm.  'Pay One Price' ride tickets will be available for parts of Thursday and Saturday.

The carnival will be open Thursday and Friday from 6pm to 10pm, and Saturday from 2pm to 10pm.
