cayugaradiogroupNews Talk WHCU (870AM/ 95.9FM) welcomes Lee Rayburn to the Ithaca airwaves.  Rayburn will be the host of the popular WHCU 'Morning Newswatch' program that airs Monday-Friday from 6AM to 9AM. 

Morning Newswatch has been on the air in Ithaca for the past 25 years, and covers news and information from around our region.  It is the only live and local show of its kind in the area.

Rayburn is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin and has been in radio over ten years at various news and talk formatted stations in Wisconsin, New York, and California.

“We are absolutely thrilled to bring Lee to Ithaca to head up Newswatch,” said VP/GM Chet Osadchey, “He is an incredibly gifted broadcaster who will help elevate WHCU to historical heights.  To have Lee here, working alongside our talented News and Program Director Geoff Dunn and with reporters Brendan Callahan and Katie Husband…it will make for an amazing team.”

“I am excited to be part of a very successful operation and an exceptional team” said Rayburn who makes his official debut on April 30th.

Rayburn was voted “Local Radio Personality of the Year” in Madison, Wisconsin in 2007 and 2008 and spent two years with Air America and filled in for popular syndicated host Thom Hartmann, currently heard on WHCU’s sister station Progressive Talk 1470 AM WNYY nightly from 6PM-9PM.
