Students Inside Albany will be held from April 14-17th and will bring approximately sixty high school students from across the state together to learn more about how state government works. Teens will participate in a series of interactive and timely lectures on topics such as the role of lobbyists in the legislative process, citizens’ rights to access government information, and the role media plays in politics. Tompkins County students will also get hands-on experience in state government by touring the Capital and shadowing a Senator and Assemblyperson on the Chamber floor.
The League of Women Voters of New York State is a nonpartisan political organization that encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy.
