dragoncleanupThe Ithaca Dragon Boat Club completed its annual "Inlet Cleanup" this afternoon, organized by member Paul Closs. Over 500 pounds of trash, including clothing, metal and glass were collected.

"This is our opportunity to give back", says Closs. "We use the inlet each year to practice and represent Ithaca in the International Dragon Boat Competition, and we appreciate the opportunity to use it."

Joining the IDBC were members of the Stand Up Paddleboard and Outrigger Community. The three clubs compete regionally, and nationally, each year, and also host the Finger Lakes International Dragon Boat Festival, which will be held on July 13 and 14 at Cass Park.

This year, community members will create teams of 20 paddlers to compete for the title of Community Champion. In the past, there has been representation from local non-profit organizations, Cornell University, Ithaca College and TC3.
