The culvert is located on Route 38 approximately 0.4 mile west of the intersection of Routes 13 & 38 and is adjacent to Dryden Public High School. It carries a ten-foot lane and a six-foot shoulder in each direction over the tributary to Egypt Creek. The average daily traffic is 4,550 vehicles.
Preliminary plans call for the culvert to be replaced in two stages, with alternating one-way traffic controlled by a variable signal during the three month construction duration. The existing lane width will be retained but the shoulders will be widened to match the approach widths. A signed detour will be available for over-width vehicles. The sidewalk to the south of the culvert will remain open during both phases of construction and the north sidewalk closed. Work is expected to take place during the summer of 2015.
This open house is part of the continuing effort by the department to encourage public participation into the development of transportation projects.
