The pizza parlors showed up with as much pizzazz as their pies could muster—from Joe's fresh-flatbread bruschettas to College Town's sizzling margheritas and A-1's diverse array of delectable thin-crust slices—ready to battle Ned's, the defending champion, who swept first place in all three categories last year.
And succeed they did! Ciao's wood-fired pizza blazed their path to 1st place for Best Crust and Mark's Pizzeria—in their first go at the competition—used their sweet-and-savory to snag the title of Best Sauce. However, the greatness of Ned's could not be denied and once again they took the title for Best Overall Slice.
Families lounged in the sun and enjoyed music on the Y's lawn, while participating in a collaborate Y Arts mural. The Finger Lakes Fall Festival, held in conjunction with the pizza poll, brought its unique brand of educational entertainment by introducing participants to floor math activities and a greater awareness of math education. The event was a home-run success in the Y’s culture of giving for the 2nd year in a row, as growing awareness was raised for the Y’s Open Doors Scholarship Fund. The Y is already planning and looking forward to next year’s PizzaPOLLooza, as this fundraiser has become a much anticipated staple in our yearly calendar.
