The gala raised a net of $108,000 to support Cayuga Medical Center Foundation’s 2013 fundraising initiative – The New Maternity Center Project. Of the $108,000, $32,700 was raised by an auction with auctioneer David Hall of National Book Auctions and Jean McPheeters of the Tompkins County Chamber of Commerce presiding over the live auction. All of the auction items were generously donated by local businesses and members of our community.
John Rudd, President and CEO of Cayuga Medical Center said, "The Annual CMC Foundation Gala helps us fund specific projects at CMC. The proceeds from Gala 2013 will be used for the major renovation of the Maternity Center at Cayuga Medical Center. This renovation will include relocating the maternity department from the third floor to the first floor, where it will have six labor and delivery rooms, twelve postpartum rooms, a neo-natal intensive care unit with four bassinets in addition to four single family NICU rooms (these rooms allow for individualized and family centered infant care). The project will also have a Cesarean Section Surgical Operating Room within the Labor and Delivery suite."
Other amenities will include: family areas with sleeper beds in each patient room, whirlpool tubs in each Labor and Delivery Room, generous access to natural light and views to the grounds, and also comfortable spa-like interiors that reference nature to create a warm and welcoming environment.
This year the CMC Foundation Gala Committee was led by Lisa LiVigne and Mindy Oakes. “It is just amazing how the Gala comes together… each of the committee members does their part and makes the evening a great success,” said John Rudd, President and CEO.
The fundraising initiative for Cayuga Medical Center’s Maternity Center Project will continue to be a focus of fundraising for the CMC Foundation for the rest of this calendar year.
