ith_rooftops120Tompkins County Area Development (TCAD) announced that their "Transform Tompkins" investment campaign exceeded its goal, raising more than $1.7 million. The campaign was publicly launched in February with an ambitious goal of $1.4 million. The investment will support initiatives and programs that will require operational support from TCAD.

TCAD celebrated their 50th anniversary with the campaign success on May 9th at the 2014 Annual Report to the Community with over 130 business and community leaders.

"We are thrilled with the response to TCAD's campaign. The financial support by the business community in economic development in Tompkins County will yield meaningful and long term benefits for our community and the entire region," said Greg Hartz, Chairman of TCAD's Board of Directors.

"It is more than gratifying to see the success TCAD had in exceeding their campaign goal. The exemplary support of the businesses and organizations throughout Tompkins County demonstrates how committed they are to the important work of economic development. It is a true model of a public-private partnership," said Michael Lane, Chair of the Tompkins County Legislature.

The goal of Transform Tompkins is to support the growth of existing companies, accelerate new business startups and technology commercialization in our County. With the success of the campaign, TCAD will continue to create and implement new initiatives.

"Based on the Campaign Feasibility Study, we were confident our investment campaign would be successful. TCAD has an enviable record of creating jobs and stimulating investment. With the support of the County, other local government and now, our investors, we are well positioned for even greater success in the next five years," said Michael Stamm, TCAD President.

The campaign Co-Chairs were Greg Hartz, President and CEO of Tompkins Trust Company; Greg Galvin, CEO and Chairman of Rheonix; Mary Opperman, Vice President for Human Resources and Safety Services for Cornell University and Andy Sciarabba, Managing Partner of the South Hill Business Campus.
