rotaryclub 120The Rotary Club of Ithaca is introduced four individuals Tuesday who recently joined the service club. These community members bring professional experience from the business and not-for-profit sectors and volunteer in Tompkins County. Ithaca Rotary’s motto is 'Service Above Self.' Membership is open to all who share in this belief; new members are accepted year-round.

“The Ithaca Rotary Club is delighted to welcome these individuals,” said Rotary Membership Chair Ron Provus. “Our members come from all walks of life and have a wide variety of interests to match those of Rotary. As members of Ithaca Rotary, individuals give of their time and skills to positively impact the needs of our community.”

Ithaca Rotary welcomed:

She served as CEO of Cayuga Medical Center for 25 years before taking early retirement and joining the Cornell faculty. Later, she taught in the NYU health administration graduate programs. Since conquering some health issues, Bonnie has become a certified pastoral counselor and hypnotherapist, and is a licensed Heartmath Biofeedback Practitioner.

Kellyann O’Mara grew up in the Cortland area and received her undergraduate degree in political science and public relations from SUNY Geneseo. She came to Ithaca 2.5 years ago as vice president and commercial branch manager for M&T Bank – Triphammer Branch. Kellyann currently serves as an ambassador for the Tompkins County Chamber, advisory board member of Leadership Tompkins, and treasurer of the local BNI “Thumbs Up” Chapter. She is also on several Cortland-area boards, including United Way for Cortland County, Cortland Repertory Theatre, JM McDonald Sports Complex, and the City of Cortland Loan Committee.

Emily Parker grew up in Trumansburg and still makes her home there. Emily holds a B.A. in French Studies from Cortland State University / L'Université de Neuchâtel in Switzerland, and is a member of the Pi Delta Phi Honor Society. She also earned a B.S. in Applied Economics and Management from Cornell. Emily has served as the director of marketing and development for Challenge Workforce Solutions for eight years, and is a member of the Association for Fundraising Professionals (AFP).

Robert Poyer attended Trumansburg High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Binghamton University and a juris doctorate from Cornell Law School. Following graduation, he worked for a large law firm in Syracuse before Miller Mayer lured him back to the Ithaca area this spring. Rob practices business and corporate law, and continues to aid businesses and not-for-profits with their legal needs.

New Rotary members are invited to serve on projects and committees that are beneficial to Ithaca and the global community. Activities range from a few hours to longer time commitments. New members meet fellow Rotarians at weekly luncheon meetings held at the Country Club of Ithaca beginning at 12:15 pm every Wednesday.
