(Lansing, NY) - In an age of fast food, you may yearn for a slower paced time when you could go to the corner drugstore for a soda fountain treat made from real ingredients. On Sunday, October 21st Ithacans will get a chance to do just that when Sincredible Pastries opens its new kitchen and bake shop. Owner and Executive Chef Marion Cardwell-Ferrer will host the event to show off the new facility offering punch and pastries to eat, and a selection of fall-themed baked goods for sale. " I wanted this space to take you back to a time when baked goods were wholesome and made with extra care, a place where you would walk in and feel peaceful, cozy, delighted, and like a kid again. Things today are too fast paced. It's my intention to slow things down a bit, and relish in those things in life that mean the most... good food, good fun and good people!"

Stepping into the Sincredible kitchen is like walking through a time portal. The décor is all in pink with the look of an old-fashioned ice cream parlor. The front area has seating for about 20, and a soda-counter with tall stools is at the rear. Behind the counter is a new professional kitchen, with pink appliances and a large workspace. Cardwell-Ferrer specializes in wedding cakes and cakes for special occasions, but offers other pastries and cookies as well. Each is individually designed to reflect her clients and their occasions. She says that baked gifts are ideal for corporate events, holiday presents, or hostess gifts.

Sincredible Pastries has been in business for 16 years, but this is the first time it will have a facility designed for the public to visit. Cardwell-Ferrer says it offers opportunities for her business that weren't possible in the past. She plans to offer seasonal baking classes for adults as well as classes for kids, and rent the facility for small parties and special occasions. Additionally she will sell seasonally themed gifts four times a year.

Cardwell-Ferrer has more than twenty years of baking experience as Executive Pastry Chef at several fine restaurants including The Mission Inn in Riverside, CA., Santchi's Fine Dining in Seattle, WA., and was Executive Pastry Chef on two ships for the exclusive American-Hawaii Cruise lines. When she decided to move home to the Ithaca area in 1991 she opened her own business, creating custom pastries for local restaurants. Eventually she migrated her focus to cakes for weddings and special occasions, including an expansive "Wizard of Oz Emerald City" cake commissioned by Cargill for a recent Relay For Life event. She sketches designs while meeting with clients to come up with unique designs made to order.

The open house will be held Sunday October 21st from 10am to 3pm at the Sincredible Pastries Kitchen at 29 Searles Road in Lansing. Cardwell-Ferrer says there will be pink balloons on the mailbox to help people find the kitchen, which is nestled out of site in a wooded area at the end of a long drive. Fall-themed gifts for sale will include caramel apples dipped in chocolate, chocolate and pumpkin bundt cakes, and fall-inspired leaf and pumpkin shaped cookies. " I look forward to meeting new people in my community, and to sharing this space. I hope everyone comes out to enjoy the day, and to enjoy some fall-inspired goodies!"
