commons_simeons120Summer Ithaca Restaurant Week will be held June 8th to 16th, 2013. As the summer months are approaching, Ithaca is heating up and the sun is finally shining. Whether you are visiting from out of town, or a local resident of Ithaca, Restaurant Week is a unique experience, which showcases a wide range of food options at affordable prices. This summer, chefs will select specials that showcase their signature dishes. Participants will also host special events to highlight bar and restaurant items.

What better way to start off your summer than enjoying a wide range of delicious food selections? Restaurants will be offering a variety of specials that will satisfy appetites at a reasonable price. Many restaurants will be offering 3-course fixed price menus, as well as $10-lunch specials or $20-dinner specials.

Other specials include free appetizers, desserts, or wine with the purchase of an entrée. Several restaurants have already signed up to participate in this upcoming event. Guests can satisfy their appetites and enjoy fresh ingredients at restaurants such as Hazelnut Kitchen, Ciao!, Boatyard Grill, Tokyo Hibachi and The Bistro at La Tourelle. These are just a few restaurants that will be joining us this summer. The Summer Restaurant Week Web Site posts new menus and specials for Restaurant Week 2013. A full list of participants will be released May 1st.

Ithaca is no newcomer to the food world. Ithaca, NY has more restaurants per capita than New York City, and continues to attract diners across the globe. In fact, Ithaca was recognized by Bon Appetit magazine as one of the “foodiest” towns in America. Ithaca is known for their local farmers and restaurants, providing fresh and healthy options, which attract residents and visitors alike. Ithaca is home to the famous Moosewood Restaurant, whose award-winning vegetarian cookbooks attract diners from around the country.  Ithaca is also the birthplace of the ice cream sundae, which was created by a local fountain owner in 1892.

This program was made possible by a grant from the Tompkins County Tourism Program, Maines Paper & Food Service Inc. and the Downtown Ithaca Alliance.
