found edgeThe Gallery@FOUND will feature painter Kari Ganoung Ruiz to the Gallery for the month of June.

Ruiz was raised at the edge of The Finger Lakes National Forest – which set the stage for her deep connection to the natural landscape. After earning a B.S. in Fine Art from Ashland University in Ohio, she returned to Central NY. She and her husband Diego Ruiz (Stereo Photographer and Stained Glass artist) now live in Union Springs on the north end of Cayuga Lake.

'At the Edge' features a series of paintings which focus on scenes found at the edge; literally or figuratively. They may have been stumbled upon while hiking a rocky trail, or their secret precariousness may have been discovered only after the piece was realized.

"I have recently found myself intrigued by small bits of the greater scene; the corner of a building, an edge of marsh, a little glimpse down that narrow path. I prefer to capture these moments en plein air – to represent the essence of that something which made me stop and go back," says Ruiz.
