hangar 2013The Hangar Theatre announces its 2016 Mainstage Season. Marking its 42nd season of producing outstanding professional theatre in the Finger Lakes, the Hangar offers a lineup featuring something for everyone. The four shows slated for next summer are I Loved, I Lost, I Made Spaghetti adapted by Jacques Lamarre from the memoir by Giulia Melucci, In the Heights with music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda and book by Quiara Alegría Hudes, Third by Wendy Wasserstein, and Constellations by Nick Payne. The Hangar's Mainstage season will run from June 16 - August 13, 2016.

Kicking off the Hangar's 2016 Mainstage season, making its professional regional premiere is I Loved, I Lost, I Made Spaghetti adapted by Jacques Lamarre from the memoir by Giulia Melucci. Melucci's best-selling memoir has been described as Eat, Pray, Love  with recipes.  This mouth-watering comedy celebrates the story of Giulia, a single New Yorker looking for love, and her Italian home cooking.  Meet her in the kitchen where she'll be serving up more than homemade pasta, as she recounts hilarious stories of the men in her life and the dishes she's made for them. Giulia will cook her way into the audience's heart as she prepares a three-course Italian meal from scratch on stage-a meal that she'll serve to select audience members at each performance. This comedy, with a side of romance, is perfect for date night.

I Loved, I Lost, I Made Spaghetti will play at the Hangar Theatre from June 16-25, 2016.

The Hangar's 2016 musical will be In the Heights with music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, book by Quiara Alegría Hudes. Winner of four Tony Awards including Best Musical, In the Heights weaves a tale about three days in the life of Washington Heights, a vibrant and tight-knit community at the top of the island of Manhattan. Find out what it takes to make a living, what it costs to have a dream, and what it means to be home...in the Heights. The show features a Grammy Award-winning score of hip-hop, rap, jazz, pop, salsa, and merengue, by the creator of the revolutionary smash-hit musical Hamilton.

In the Heights will make its professional regional premiere at the Hangar Theatre from June 30-July 16, 2016.

Following In the Heights will be Wendy Wasserstein's Third. This pertinent and funny play tells the story of a professor at a prestigious New England liberal arts college whose seemingly well-ordered life as wife, mother, and daughter is thrown into disarray when she accuses a student, -who happens to be the star of the wrestling team-of plagiarism. Defined by its dazzlingly smart dialogue, crackling wit, intelligence, and wryness, Third is evidence of what made the late Wendy Wasserstein one of the most prominent female playwrights of her time.

Third will make its professional regional premiere at the Hangar Theatre from July 21-July 30, 2016.

Closing the Hangar's 2016 Mainstage season is Constellations by Nick Payne. This play is a fusion of science and art that explores romance as it might exist across parallel universes.  Defying the boundaries of the world we know, Constellations tells a spellbinding love story between an unlikely couple, a beekeeper and a quantum physicist. Raising questions about destiny, and ultimately testing the boundless potential of a connection between two people, it is a story of endless invention and infinite possibilities.

Constellations will play at the Hangar Theatre from August 4-13, 2016.
