The Hangar is hosting the world premiere cabaret style concert Mind the Gap. From the creators of Back to the Garden and Women of Woodstock (which also had its premiere at the Hangar), this show will highlight British soul singers, Dusty Springfield, Petula Clark, Amy Winehouse, and Adele. Mind the Gap celebrates the legacy, the nostalgia, and the incredible mark that these women have made in the music world. Accompanied by a rock band, the performers lead by Melissa Hammans (Smokey Joe's Café, Women of Woodstock), will provide an evening of entertainment that's not to be missed.
Sally Ramirez returns to the Hangar stage October 14 for a one-night engagement; The Latin and World Music of Sally Ramirez and Doug Robinson. Joined onstage by members of their band, Crimson, including Eric Aceto, Chad Lieberman, and Al Hartland, this performance will be in part a celebration of their soon to be released CD, "Mar y Sal/Sea and Salt". Sally and Doug continue their exploration of inspired melodies, rhythms, from composers around the globe, spanning Latin America, Brazil, the Caribbean, Mexico, and Europe. Sally performs music in five languages, weaving in stories from her childhood in Puerto Rico. Doug's complex and rich guitar arrangements, gentle vocal style, and natural sense of humor create a delightful musical evening of entertainment.
Later in the month, the Hangar will host its fifth annual CHARADES Fundraiser. This light-hearted community battle of Charades raises money for the Hangar's education programs. Four teams comprised of local luminaries and Hangar stars will compete on and off stage for one of two titles - Charades Champion and Fundraising Champion. Give your teams of choice the competitive edge by supporting them in the fundraising challenge.
