Ithaca Reggae Fest, dedicated to the protection of Cayuga Lake through a vibrant celebration of Ithaca's legendary reggae community and its history, announced its return to Ithaca June 22 through 24, 2018.

Following the success of last year's inaugural event, the festival will expand to a weekend long celebration with official events throughout the city, including The Haunt and Ithaca Beer Co., with the main event on Saturday returning to beautiful Stewart Park. The second annual festival is pleased to showcase international legends Clinton Fearon & Boogie Brown Band, Sister Carol and The Meditations alongside regional reggae stalwarts Double Tiger, Mosaic Foundation, Big Mean Dub Machine, Kevin Kinsella, Thousands of One, Root Shock, Crucial Reggae Social Club, Fall Creek Brass Band, DJ Kamau Preston and more.

This year the festival continues its mission of raising awareness about the restoration and protection of Cayuga Lake with the return of its Education Village supported by and showcasing local, regional and national organizations all dedicated to clean water. Thanks to the support of the nearly 4,000 attendees and sponsors of last year's inaugural event, the Friends of Cayuga Lake was able to make a $7,500 matching donation to support the purchase of a new boat for the Cayuga Lake Floating Classroom, aka Discover Cayuga Lake, an organization committed to inspiring future stewards of Cayuga Lake by providing hands-on learning opportunities in the interest of sustaining our Finger Lakes waterways for future generations.

Building on that success, in 2018 the Education Village is expanding its community awareness to add several sister villages including a Wellness Village, International Food Village, Youth Village and a special exhibit in collaboration with the History Center detailing Ithaca's legendary reggae history.
