ITHACA, NY - For half the price of a movie ticket you can enjoy an evening of live dance at the Cornell Schwartz Center for the Performing Arts. The upcoming fall dance concert features eight short new dance pieces and two short original films.
"The concert includes music that makes you want to move-from bluegrass to Beethoven to jazz. A generous serving of comedy and wit are spiced with a pinch of darkness," said Concert Director Joyce Morgenroth. One dance piece was created in an interactive media class using computer sensing to track dancers' movements and interpret them into sound.
The six student choreographers whose work will be showcased in the concert are Tara Cooper, Ashley Ferro-Murray, Alexandra Harlig, Katie Lin, Cindy Postma, and Jamie Silverstein. Dance faculty Jumay Chu and Joyce Morgenroth will also present new work.
