TRY AND: Just because great writers like Hemingway wrote "try and do it" doesn't make it right. You try to do something. Try and… may be a British phrase, but they're the folks who think there's a country called "Nicker-RAG-you-ah" and a book called Don QUIX-ot, so we can't always assume they speak real English. At the Institute for the Linguistically Impaired, we teach that try and do it is two jobs. Try to do it is one. Why do more work than you have to?
