ImageITHACA, NY -- Kick off December with a playful and entertaining evening of dance and music as Zig Zag debuts at the Cornell Schwartz Center for the Performing Arts December 4-6. This all-original dance theatre concert will feature eight works choreographed by Cornell students that include two live improvisational pieces and two solos in mixed styles.

"This fall's dance theatre concert promises to be an entertaining mix of movement and musical styles ranging from a Piazolla tango to a piece by Andre 3000 from the group 'Outcast.' The concert is called Zig Zag because it includes a 'lil of this and a 'lil of that-- solos, duets and larger group works, and, of course, the dancing will be playfully delightful with just the right bit of provocation," said Concert Director Jim Self, Senior Dance Lecturer.

Zig Zag will spotlight live piano, violin and drum music to accompany the dance pieces that are primarily extensions of what is worked on and created in Cornell dance classes.

Zig Zag will be performed December 4-6 at 8:00 pm in the Class of '56 Dance Theatre. A post-show discussion will follow each performance.
