'From Steel to Light'
The Community Arts Partnership  announced the work of Linna Dolph is their Clinton House ArtSpace, located on the first floor of the Clinton House (corner of Cayuga and Seneca).

Dolph’s work is mixed media glass.  Her challenge was to create a show that needed light to shine through glass in a room with no windows.  She accomplished this by building podiums lit from within to uplight her pieces. The affect is lovely, a darkened room showcasing beautiful and colorful work.

Dolph’s glass art is unique.  She has some traditionally hung window pieces, but she also has many small fine art pieces encased in steel.  “I love to dance," Dolph says.  "I love the rhythm, the movement and the view of the world as I twirl.  I am not a dancer, but an artist who works with glass. From the initial spark of an idea to its completion each piece must dance.

"The unique quality of glass is that it works directly with light to display purity in color, texture and depth.  As a glass artist, my responsibility lies in creating designs that enhance that quality.  My risk is obscuring it.

"In essence, the challenge in my work is to provide a dance floor for the glass, supply it with rhythm and allow the glass its dance.”

Dolph’s show will be at the Clinton House through February 28th.  A reception will be held at the Clinton House ArtSpace in conjunction with Gallery Night and the Light in Winter Festival on Friday, January 23rd from 5pm to 7pm.
