In a big city where there's lots to do and not enough time in the day to do it, how can everything be accomplished? Young audience members will learn about baking and where flour comes from, and travel on a train and a pirate ship!
This heartwarming musical honors children's' thirst for knowledge by showing how a community depends on one another in ways we often overlook. "Busytown is a play about discovering how exciting the every day world can be," says director Jesse Geiger. "It's about the joy of being naive to everything we take for granted. For instance, what if you had no idea what mail was? Suddenly the postman has the most fascinating job on earth."
Families are invited to the Hangar Theatre tent for a Community Read-a-Long of the book and a book-making craft project on Saturday, July 18 at 11:30 a.m.. Circle around and hear the story read aloud by a Family Reading Partnership volunteer; afterwards we'll head inside and watch the characters come to life on stage!
Busytown will appear at the Hangar Theatre just two miles from Downtown Ithaca on Route 89 at the Treman Marina entrance of Cass Park from July 15 through 18. The production is made possible with the support of show sponsors Purity Ice Cream, True Insurance and West Wind Consulting. The KIDDSTUFF season is sponsored by Wegmans and Ithaca Child.
