The works in the show all embody the theme of movement and are of various media including digital video, photography, sculpture, and mixed. The artwork in the show was selected by jurors William Ganis, Assistant Professor of Art History at Wells College and Director of the String Room Gallery; and Andrea Inselmann, Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art at Cornell University.
Guests at the opening will enjoy libations generously donated by Damiani Winery and tasty nibbles provided by Simply Red Bistro. The evening will feature a reading by Ithaca poet Lyrae van Clief-Stefanon. In addition Dr. Sally Roesch Wagner will present “The Movement of Ideas: How Matilda Jocelyn Gage learned from the Haudenosaunee,” followed by a book signing.
The show is located at Petrune Gallery, upstairs from Petrune at 126 East State Street. The show will run from September 4th until October 10th. Sales of the art will benefit the Ithaca SufferJets and Ithaca Foodnet Meals on Wheels.
