ImageMike Mulligan and his Steam Shovel, the Hangar Theatre’s second KIDDSTUFF  production of the season, runs from July 8th-10th and 15th-17th.

Playwright Eric Lane Barnes creatively brings the play, based on Virginia Lee Burton’s beloved children book “Mike Mulligan and his Steam Shovel” to the stage.  In this delightful musical, Mike Mulligan and his steam shovel named Mary Anne are told that they are no longer needed because of new technology.

The dedicated duo sings their way through every challenge they face, creating a tuneful and heartfelt performance. Along their journey, they will share with your child lessons of loyalty, sharing and teamwork. Mike Mulligan and his Steam Shovel is sponsored by Family Medicine Associates of Ithaca.

The 2010 Hangar Theatre KIDDSTUFF season is filled with favorite children’s books brought to life.  Lyle the Crocodile launched the season in June, followed by Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel (July 8-10, 15-17), Lilly's Plastic Purse (July 29-31), If You Give a Mouse a Cookie (Aug 12-14) and Schoolhouse Rock Live! Junior (Aug 26-28). Also join us for a reading of the actual book Saturday mornings during performance days at 11:15 with the Family Reading Partnership. This season promises to be extra delightful, as audiences will enjoy the stylishly renovated theatre, along with the magic of live theatre.
