The smash-hit musical, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, will be on the Hangar stage from August 19th to September 5th.The Hangar Theatre wraps up the summer season with the smash-hit musical, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. This Tony Award winning show encompasses a time-honored American tradition, as we follow the competing middle-school winners as they compete and spell their way into Putnam County history. You’ll be sure to laugh as the contestants confront adolescent pressures which reveal their personal hopes, fears, and dreams, and the competition moves to the final two spellers.
The cast consists of Ithaca College students and alumni along with one of Hangar’s favorites, Wally Dunn and directed by the Hangar’s own Jesse Bush. “It’s spelled W-O-N-D-E-R-F-U-L! … a super-smart show that is also a bona fide crowd-pleaser…” says the Wall Street Journal. Come to the theatre early and get the chance to be one of the lucky audience members who will participate as spellers! Can you spell great theatre? H-A-N-G-A-R!
The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee will appear at the Hangar August 19th through September 5th due to the generous support of M&T Bank, Country Inn & Suites, and Cayuga Radio Group.
