hangar_rounding3rd_120The Hangar Theatre hits one out of the park with the opening of its first show of the season, Richard Dresser’s baseball comedy Rounding Third.  Performances begin on June 2, 2011.

In the tradition of The Odd Couple, Rounding Third is a smart comedy that hits the laughs out of the park as the coaching styles of two fathers collide on the Little League field.   Don is baseball obsessed; Michael is new to coaching with limited sporting experience. Both men rack up hits, home runs, and plenty of errors as they forge an unlikely friendship and learn to see the game - and their lives - in a new light.

Rounding Third stars Aaron Roman Weiner and Sidney Williams; both members of New York City’s notable LAByrinth Theatre company.  The Hangar’s Associate Artistic Director Stephanie Yankwitt directs the popular comedy.  The laugh-filled play attracted Yankwitt when she saw that it was more than funny. “It's a play about conflicting ideals, and about how our actions teach our kids in so many ways that words do not. This play was written to entertain, but more so, to illuminate.  There is no audience better geared for Rounding Third than Hangar audiences.”

To attract those hard-core baseball fans, the Hangar will be offering gourmet, chef-prepared ballpark concessions, courtesy of Simply Red Bistro at The Hangar.
