kitchen front120The Kitchen Theatre Company’s 21st season continues with a new movement theatre piece, In the Company of Dancers, with previews on September 28, 29, and 30, and Opening Night on October 1. It runs for two weeks only, closing on October 9, 2011.

With choreography by Kitchen Theatre Artistic Director Rachel Lampert and Ithaca College Dance Professor Lindsay Gilmour and live accompaniment by violinist Linda Case (Concertmistress, Cayuga Chamber Orchestra), CCO first cellist Rosie Elliott, and CCO guest pianist Andrea Merrill, this new piece will fill the intimate Kitchen Theatre with the music of Mendelssohn, Martinu, Brahms, Shostakovich, Glière, Handel, Haydn, Sarasate, Kreisler, Dvorak, Beach, Bach, and more.

Norma Fire, last seen at the Kitchen Theatre as Edna in the world premiere of At A Loss, leads a multigenerational company of actors and dancers. Fire plays Deborah, a former professional dancer reminiscing about her many years on the stage. As she leafs through scrapbooks, letters and photo albums, we relive her memories as dancers bring them to life onstage.  The company includes Tim Connell*, Lindsay Gilmour, Erin Hilgartner, Karen Koyanagi, Ryan MacConnell, Stephen Nunley, Audrey Pincus, Yvette Rubio, Lillian Stamey, and Shaina Ung.

This is choreographer Lindsay Gilmour’s second time at the Kitchen.  She performed in last season’s dance piece, Summers at Rock’s Edge.  When she isn’t at the Kitchen, you can find her teaching modern dance at Ithaca College.

Tyler Perry is the Lighting Designer for In the Company of Dancers and Hannah Kochman is the Costume Designer. The Stage Manager is Jennifer Gregory and the Production Stage Manager is LaShawn Keyser.
