"The primary is designed so that if there is a difference of opinion, and support for those opinions, a primary will be followed with an election," LaVigne said after the unofficial results were tallied last night. "The process makes the candidate, in my opinion, a better candidate. I have nothing but the utmost respect for Chris Williams. There is definitely a place for him in our party. He brings his energy and enthusiasm. I look forward to talking to him about future ideas that can benefit Lansing. Moving forward, my objective is to win the general election and make Lansing a better place to live."
LaVigne, a lifelong Lansingite, is completing his first term on the Lansing Town Board. He is President of the Lansing Community Council and an active community leader at the Lansing United Methodist Church. He is a pharmacist, working at the Lansing Tops on Triphammer Road. He favors a slow, evolutionary approach to growth in the town.

Former Councilwoman Andra Benson (D), Katrina Binkewicz (D), Rick Hayes (R), and Connie Wilcox (R) will vie for two open Town Council seats being vacated by LaVigne and Democrat Ruth Hopkins. Deputy Highway Superintendent Charlie 'Cricket' Purcell is running for the top seat in the Highway Department in the wake of retiring Superintendent Jack French. Town Clerk Debbie Crandall and Town Justice John Howell are also running for an additional term.
