Application Authorized for Electric Bus Funding
The Legislature, without dissent, took the procedural step necessary to access grant funds awarded to Tompkins Consolidated Area Transit (TCAT) to acquire three electric transit buses and related equipment. Legislators authorized application for the nearly $2.3 million awarded to TCAT under the Federal Transit Administration's competitive Low and No-emission Electric Transit Bus Program. The total project budget is more than $2.8 million, with a nearly $575,000 share from TCAT. The County needs to apply for the funds to obligate them for the federal 2019 fiscal year.
Among other business,
- The Legislature, following a public hearing, adopted a new Local Law amending County Charter regarding the County Air Service Board, removing the current eight-member limit on Board membership.
- Finance Director Rick Snyder reported on Sales Tax receipts for the month of August, which show the preliminary, non-reconciled County share at 9.33% above August 2017, and year-to-date receipts running 6.95% above last year's level.
- Aztech Technologies, of Ballston Spa, NY, was awarded a more than $27,000 contract for replacement bedrock wall installation services for the Hillview Road Landfill, with funds available in the Recycling and Materials Management Department operating budget.
