The annual public meeting of the Lansing Housing Authority was held Monday, July 25 at Woodsedge Senior Housing in Lansing. Two new members, Barbara Bills and Susan Mehr, have been appointed by the Lansing Town Board and their participation in Housing Authority work will be most welcome.

The following officers were elected: President and Treasurer: George Gesslein, Vice President: David Stoyell, and Secretary, Connie Conlon. Other LHA board members are Bob Baker and Betty Brake. Connie Wilcox, a member of the Lansing Town Board, is liaison to the Lansing Housing Authority.

The Board of the Lansing Housing Authority appreciates all inquiries and applications for membership on the Board. As the premier senior housing in Lansing, Woodsedge has benefitted by the interest and support shown by the community and it is anticipated that this will only increase in the years to come.

The Lansing Housing Authority (LHA) was established in 1978 to encourage and enable Lansing seniors to live independently.  It's goals are to design and fund assisted living facilities, to work with the Lansing Older Adult Program to coordinate services for seniors, to create a 20-30 year plan for senior housing and services, and to continue to adapt the existing facilities, currently the Woodsedge complex.

Current members are President & Treasurer George Gesslein, Robert Baker, Betty Brake, Connie Conlon
Steve Palladino, David Braid (Representative of Residence Association), Pat Niemi (Representative of Residence Association), Betty Norman (Representative of Residence Association) and Connie Wilcox, Councilwoman and liaison to town board.

Mr. Gesslein says, "Bob Baker is our former President and the main mover for the establishment of Woodsedge some 20 years ago."

Mr. Gesslein was appointed as President late last year when Mr. Baker decided to reduce his involvement.  He has agreed to serve in an interim capacity until someone else is elected.  He says, "The Authority presently covers only Woodsedge, however, we are looking at another senior project in the future to compliment Woodsedge and serve a supportable senior market."

Monthly meetings are held in the community room at Woodsedge in January, April, July and October, with the remainder of the meetings at the home of Mr. Baker.
