ImageState Senator Mike Nozzolio today joined a number of his New York State Senate Colleagues in demanding President Barack Obama, Attorney General Eric Holder, and the United States Congress to move the 9/11 terrorist trials out of New York City.

“The terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 were the most horrific crimes ever committed against the people of the United States. The idea that these trials would be held just blocks from where nearly 4,000 people lost their lives is an outrage and demonstrates a lack of understanding of the serious threat to the public." said Senator Nozzolio. “Holding the terrorist trials in New York City would threaten the safety and well being of all New Yorkers and would cost taxpayers nearly $1 billion.”

“There is no justification whatsoever for this policy which places all New Yorkers at risk. The President needs to reverse this decision without delay,” said Senator Nozzolio. “The rights of terrorists should never come before the rights of Americans.”

“We need to honor those individuals who lost their lives on September 11th. By holding the trials in New York City, we will give the individuals who committed these horrific crimes a national stage from which to spew their continued hatred of America and the freedoms we cherish. We must send a loud and clear message to Washington that the terrorist trials must not be held in New York City or New York State," said Senator Nozzolio.

Senator Nozzolio is urging Senate Majority Leader John Sampson to bring this Resolution to the floor of the State Senate for an immediate vote. New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has voiced his strong opposition to holding the trials in the city.
