ImageAssemblywoman Barbara Lifton announced her bid for re-election last Friday to the 125th Assembly District seat.  This week she filed petitions with the NYS Board of Elections, signed by 1,436 of her fellow Democrats in Tompkins County, City of Cortland, and Towns of Cortland and Virgil.

She has already received the endorsement of both the Tompkins County and Cortland County Democratic Committees in her bid for a fifth term.  Additionally, Assemblywoman Lifton has been endorsed by the NYS Working Families Party and has filed petitions to appear on the Working Families Party line, as well as the Democratic Party line in the November election.

"I am asking again for the support of the people of this district so I can continue working on their behalf in the Assembly, both to fight for issues they care deeply about, and to work to make improvements to the functioning of the legislative process,"  Lifton said.  "It is very clear to me, when I encounter my constituents in local stores, through meetings in my office or out around my district – and when hundreds of them make the trek to Albany to meet with me there -- that they understand the need for a strong and effective state government.  I pledge to continue to do my best to work hard to make Albany better respond to the many issues that are important to my constituents and my community, from job creation to education, health care and gas drilling, among others."

Lifton has named Krys Cail, a Ulysses resident, as her Campaign Manager, and Svante Myrick, a City of Ithaca resident and City Council member, as her Volunteer Coordinator. Town of Ithaca resident Merry Jo Bauer is her Campaign Treasurer.
