commons_center120WASHINGTON, DC – Last Friday, U.S. Rep.  Michael A. Arcuri (NY-24) announced the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has awarded a total of $5,901,449 to Public Housing Agencies across Upstate New York.

The funding comes from the 2010 Capital Fund Program Award. The program provides funds annually to Public House Agencies (PHA’s) for capital and management activities, including modernization and development of public housing.

“This funding will allow public housing agencies in communities across our region make much needed improvements and ensure that low- and moderate-income families will have  access to quality, affordable housing,” said Arcuri. “The directors and employees who manage the public housing agencies work every day assisting our residents in obtaining public housing and I’m glad to see they are receiving funds to help them continue their good work in our communities.”
