Lansing School officials bade a warm farewell to Interim Superintendent Tiffany Phillips in her last Board of Education meeting Monday night. Board President Bonita Lindberg told the assembly, "We have been fortunate that we have been able to call upon Tiffany, who brings with her a wealth of knowledge, a sense of balance, a sense of humor, and great leadership to this district. I have thoroughly enjoyed our short time." She presented a parting gift on behalf of the BOE.

Ms. Phillips has filled in the top School District spot three times. She first came to Lansing in 2001 when Andrea Price left the position. She filled in until Bob Service was appointed. She was asked back when he left after 18 months and served as Interim Superintendent for six months until Corliss Kaiser was hired. When Dr. Kaiser left after one school year Ms. Phillips recieved the call again, and she has led the District again since July of this year.

Other board members expressed their appreciation as well. Christine Iacobucci noted that Superintendent Phillips has been here longer than the last two "permanent" superintendents combined. She added, "Each time Tiffany has come to Lansing's rescue I have appreciated and admired her even more."

All three building principals also had something to say. High School Principal Michelle Stone noted, "I don't even have the words to say how much I appreciate everything you have done." Commenting on her thoroughness, Middle School Principal said, "Working with you leaves no rock unturned." Earlene Carr, Interim Elementary School Principal summed up, "You have been admirable and absolutely a thinker-doer. You not only start things, but you finish things. I think that is truly a gift."

Superintendent Phillips told the board, "I'll just say what I've said before. If I didn't think so highly of the Lansing School District and the people that are here, the staff, the School Board that I've really enjoyed working with again, the kids and the parents and the community, I wouldn't have given it a second thought and I would have looked elsewhere. It's really been my pleasure to serve the Board of Education and the District, and I wish you well." She added jokingly, "I won't be back again!"

She went on to say, "Best of luck to Mark (Lewis). You are coming into a very good school district and I'm sure things will go well." She serves through the end of this year. Dr. Lewis will take the helm in the first week in January.
