On Saturday, 10/16/10, at about 4:48 AM, deputies were dispatched to a residence on North Triphammer Road in the Town of Lansing for a reported home invasion burglary. It was alleged that Bradley H. Brown, age 36, had forced entry into the home before assaulting two occupants.
Brown was known by the victims, and the incident was not a random event. The New York State Police also responded and are assisting with the investigation.
Both victims were treated at Cayuga Medical Center and were released.
At the the time of the incident, an active NYS Parole Warrant existed for Brown for allegedly violating the terms of his parole by leaving a drug rehabilitation center in Delaware County on 10/13/10.
Information regarding the home invasion was provided to other area police agencies. As a result, Brown was linked to a stolen vehicle from Delhi, NY. Later that day, Brown was spotted in the vehicle in the City of Elmira by Elmira PD officers. Brown exited the vehicle and fled by foot upon being stopped. The Chemung County Sheriff's Office, Elmira Police, NYS Police, and the NYS Division of Parole, as well as other area agencies conducted a large-scale ground search and located Brown the next day.
Brown is currently in the custody of the Tompkins County Jail on the NYS Parole Warrant. Although believed to be from the Corning area, Brown reported being homeless to jail staff.
The Sheriff's Office is continuing work on the home-invasion investigation and additional charges are pending.
