Fatal Fire on Buck RoadOn 03/05/11, at 4:47 AM the Sheriff's Office responded to a residence located at 88 buck Road in the Town of Lansing in response to a structure fire. The investigation revealed that resident, Ryan Burris, age 28, and perished in the fire. Two other residents, Michael and Matthew Adams suffered burns and smoke inhalation, while resident Steven Miller escaped unharmed.
The investigation into the fire is ongoing, however the cause does not appear suspicious at this time. The Sheriff's Office were assisted by Lansing Fire, Cayuga Heights Fire, Bang's Ambulance, and the NYS Office of Fire Prevention and Control.
East Shore Road Accident
On 3/10/11 at 10:27PM, Deputies responded to East Shore Drive and Drake Road in the Town Of Lansing, for a report of a personal injury accident. Subsequent to the investigation Deputies determined that a 2002 Chevrolet driven by Edwin C Mattoon age 61, of 97 Auburn Rd Lansing, was stopped on Drake Rd and was attemping to turn left on East Shore Drive, when he was struck by a 1997 Saturn traveling South on East Shore Dr driven by Cody T Towner of 184 Main St Groton. Towner's passenger Joezaya M Berrios age 21, was transported to CMC by Bangs Ambulance for her injuries.
Deputies charged Mattoon with failing to yeild right of way, Driving While Intoxicated. Mattoon is scheduled to appear in the Town Of Lansing Court on 03/24/11.
Assiting at the accident scene were Lansing Fire & Bangs Ambulance.
DWI
On 3/3/11 at 1:25 AM, Deputies stopped a 1998 Toyota for failing to stop for signal light on North Triphammer Rd, in the Town Of Lansing. Subsequent to the stop, Deputies charged Garrett M Mayo age 25, of 3101 Van Dorns Rd Lansing NY, with failed to stop for signal, uninspected motor vehicle, speed not reasonable & prudent, Driving while intoxicated.
Mayo is scheduled to appear in the Town Of Lansing on 3/22/11
