"It is an honor to be given the important responsibility of serving on the Public Protection and Transportation Budget Conference Committees," said Nozzolio. “One of my top priorities is to ensure that State government remains accountable to the taxpayers of New York State and there is no better way to do that than to deliver an on-time, fiscally responsible State budget that builds on the many successes we achieved last year.”
“As a member of these important Budget Conference Committees, I will continue to fight to support our State Police, Correctional Services, and all other aspects of our criminal justice system and homeland security,” continued Nozzolio. “In addition, I will be working to provide funding for our highways, roads and bridges which are important to the safety of New Yorkers and the economic development of the State. As we address these vitally important budget priorities, I will continue to make it a priority to protect the taxpayers from unnecessary government spending.”
The Public Protection Budget Conference Committee is responsible for all aspects of the criminal justice and homeland security budgets for the State. The Transportation Budget Conference Committee is responsible for determining State support for the transportation infrastructure of New York.
Joint Budget Conference Committees began public meetings today to work towards delivering an on-time budget.
The Transportation and Public Protection Budget Conference Committees are two of ten Budget conference committees negotiating various aspects of the State Budget. The other committees are: Education; Higher Education; General Government/Local Assistance; Health; Mental Hygiene; Human Services/Labor; Economic Development; and Environment, Agriculture and Housing.
