shinagawaTompkins County Legislator and Legislature Vice Chair Nathan Shinagawa announced Wednesday he will run for Congress.

""I'm eager to take on Tom Reed," Shinagawa said. "Tom Reed is a congressman that's very close to the oil and gas industries. He's close to the Republican leadership. And I believe that I'm the candidate because I have the energy, the integrity and the determination to take him on and change Washington."
Shinagawa says he has spearheaded smart healcare initiatives and worked to bring sustainable economic development and new investment to Tompkins County.  He says he will bring the same ideas and initiatives to Washington.

In an email sent to supporters yesterday he said, "I want to fill the void of leadership and integrity that has occurred in the past few years. Congress has been playing politics instead of enacting policies to help working Americans.  I will bring my passion and drive to Congress to work for you. I will bring your issues to the national stage. Lastly, I will make your voice heard and give you say within Congress."
