baseball_varsity1_120The Lansing Varsity baseball team improved their record to 5-0 following home wins over Edison and Union Springs, and road wins at Greene and Dryden. The Bobcats defeated T.A.E., defending Section IV Class C Champion 3-2 with Benji Parkes earning the win and Ellington Hopkins picking up the save.

Edison got out to an early lead scoring 2 runs in the first inning, but the Bobcats answered back with 2 runs in the bottom of the first. Greg Lehr scored the decisive run in the second inning on an RBI ground out by Ellington Hopkins, from there the Bobcats got solid defense and pitching to earn the win.

The Bobcats defeated Union Springs 10-0 with JD McKane picking up the win, allowing only one hit over six innings while going 2 for 3 at the plate with 4 RBI's. Kevin Howell also went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI's, and Alex Schutz was 2 for 2 at the plate, while the team played error less ball behind the solid pitching of McKane and Brandon Emerick.

At Greene Benji Parkes pitched a complete game one hitter to pick up the 8-0 win. Parkes aided his own cause going 2 for 4 with 2 RBI's while Ellington Hopkins was also 2 for 4.

At Dryden the Bobcats won 16-0 behind the no-hit pitching effort of Sean Streb. Streb struck out 7 batters and allowed only two base runners, one reaching on an error and the other a hit batter, he did it all on just 66 pitches. Ellington Hopkins was the hitting star as he slammed two home runs in one inning while going 3 for 5 on the day. Benji Parkes and Kevin Howell both went 2 for 4, while Sean Streb and JD McKane both went 2 for 5 as the Bobcats pounded out 15 hits.

Every team member contributed in this key IAC North Large victory, the Bobcats are home Friday as they host Marathon.
