hangar_tenorThe Hangar Theatre kicks off its 2012 season with theside-splitting farce Lend Me a Tenor by Ken Ludwig. Featuring a stellar cast of Broadway and Hangar favorites, this hysterical night in the theatre will be directed by Hangar Artistic Director Peter Flynn. Lend Me a Tenor runs June 21st - July 7th.

Set in 1934, Henry Saunders, the general manager of the Cleveland Grand Opera Company, is awaiting the arrival of world famous tenor, Tito Morelli, to appear for one night as Otello. Showing up late, the star inadvertently takes a double dose of tranquilizers and passes out. Saunders, believing Tito is dead, frantically persuades his assistant Max to take the star's place. Max succeeds admirably, until Morelli wakes up. With two Otellos, star-struck women, a jealous wife and a meddling bellhop, the hilarity never stops. Lend Me a Tenor won two 1989 Tony Awards as well as four Drama Desk Awards.

Michael McCormick (Elf, Curtains, Kiss of the Spider Woman), Janet Dacal (Wonderland, In the Heights), Christopher Shyer (Mamma Mia!, TV's The Good Wife) and the Tony-nominated Emily Skinner (Side Show, Billy Elliott and the Hangar's Dirty Blonde) headline the season opener. The cast also includes Daniel Berlingeri, Lindsay Clemmons, Judy Levitt, and Eddie Vona.

"This is the perfect way to start a thrilling summer of theatre; a cast of amazing actors in an endlessly funny farce", states Director Flynn. "We are having a great time in rehearsals and we cannot wait to share this wonderfully wacky play with our Hangar audiences".
