"I'm really looking forward to getting to know the middle and high schools more deeply, and to working with the leadership team and the community," Pettograsso says. "I would like to see more collaboration happening overall, and to really working with people and the community more broadly."
Pettograsso worked in the Watkins Glenn school system before coming to Lansing. She began as as a coach and elementary school reading teacher, and then served as an Interim Middle School Principal for a year and two years as Curriculum and instruction Director. Rebera has worked in the Lansing school district for 13 years. She taught at the elementary school, and earned certification for school administrative work in 2008. She has served on committees and continued projects she began during her administrative internship in Lansing. She has also acted as substitute principal in the elementary and middle schools.
She has directed the Lansing/Groton Teacher Center since 2009. She says that will help her as Principal, because she has worked with most faculty members in that capacity.
In an interview Tuesday Pettograsso expressed full confidence in Rebera's stewardship of the elementary school, noting they had worked closely over several years. Rebera says that will mean stability for students and faculty.
"Chris and I have worked closely together on multiple projects since she started as Principal," she says. "We've really enjoyed our time together and she was mentor to me during my internship. We've continued to work closely together, so I am really familiar with the workings of the building and ongoing projects and goals and vision for the building. My goal has always been to be principal, and I am excited to be in my own district. It's been home to me, and the place where I really want to be, so I couldn't be happier right now."
